Following last week’s announcement that the Northeast Conference has returned to Division 1 men’s lacrosse, another conference has suddenly become very relevant in the New England landscape.
The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, more commonly known and referred to as the MAAC, welcomed two new members to its ranks for the 2024-25 school year -- Merrimack and Sacred Heart.
While the move is less of a shock to basketball fans, for lacrosse fans the move is rather surprising.
Many lacrosse observers expected the NEC to welcome back both Merrimack and Sacred Heart next season once it began sponsoring men's lacrosse again -- it was, in fact, announced.
