Lars Keil has been involved with lacrosse in many different permutations. You may recognize him from social media as the Sidewall Jedi, an identity and business that he has crafted with his love of stringing and work as an equipment manager for the Premier Lacrosse League.
Keil played at Springfield College in the early 2000s and has a deep history of coaching on both the men's and women's sides of the sport. He has had coaching stints at Endicott, Bates, Pfeiffer, Brown, and Duke. Most recently he was the director of operations for Harvard’s men’s lacrosse team.
After departing Harvard this summer, Keil found himself in the mix for several coaching jobs as well as other projects. This week he decided to join Massachusetts Youth Lacrosse (formerly Massachusetts Bay Youth Lacrosse League) as the director of the boys lacrosse program.
Days after taking the position, Keil sat down with NELJ’s Kyle Devitte to talk about his new job and his plans for MYL.
