While the annual list of juniors from the region making their Division 1 college commitments is tilted heavily toward prep school players, these last six weeks have seen more than two dozen public school players from New England announce their commitments to play at Division 1 schools.

The group is made up of 11 players from Connecticut, eight from Massachusetts, three from Maine, two from New Hampshire and one from Rhode Island.

The latest public school commit was attack Jake Gilbert from Xaverian Brothers (Mass.), who announced on social media Wednesday night he would be taking his game to Fairfield.
