The region’s Class of 2023 had some amazing players on both sides of the ball. Defenders, goalies, draw men and midfielders of all persuasions shared headlines throughout their senior season.
But attackmen always steal the show. Goals and assists are the currency of lacrosse. No player ran those stats up with as much frequency or flash as former St. John’s Prep (Mass.) attackman Jimmy Ayers (South Hamilton, Mass.).
The things that made the 5-foot-9 Ayers a top recruit are the same things that make most players earn that designation. He’s fast, strong, smart, capable, and he can score against almost anyone whenever he wants.
He’s not just a scorer; he’s a winner (three MIAA championships) and he’s a playmaker, and it should surprise no one that he’s already logging minutes at Johns Hopkins as a starting attackman in scrimmages this fall.
