DANVERS, Mass. -- It wasn’t an unkindness of ravens or a murder of crows, but a convocation of eagles that amassed at the MIAA Division 1 title game.
St. John’s Prep finished downing a very game BC High squad, 11-7, on Thursday, in a game that was spread over two days due to inclement weather, and lifted its first state championship trophy since 2010 after beating their Catholic Conference rival for the third time in four tries this season.
Not even a weather delay that delayed the conclusion of the contest by 14 hours could halt the progress of coach John Pynchon’s squad as it took a 9-4 second-quarter advantage into the restart the next morning, an advantage that would prove to be enough.
