We may never know what a Winged Beaver actually is, but everyone in the prep school lacrosse world knows what Avon Old Farms is.
A traditional prep power nestled in Avon, Conn., Avon Old Farms has a new head coach in Kyle Jackson, but the same old goal -- winning the Founders League.
Last year, the Winged Beavers finished 9-8 in what would prove to be Skip Flanagan’s final stint with the team. Jackson, who was being groomed to take over, did so before the spring. His vision for the team is more focused on culture and building players, than leaning on established stars or traditions.
And there’s no better tradition than winning lacrosse games.
