Right off the bat -- this is a top nine. I know 10 is the preferred number for a listicle like this, but there are only nine Division 2 teams in New England.
The good news is that’s one more program than there was last year. The University of Bridgeport has joined the D-2 ranks for the 2023 season.
Division 2 is the middle child of NCAA lacrosse, not only because of its secondary designation but because the sheer number of D-3 teams is overwhelming and the bombast of D-1 is overshadowing.
However, that doesn't mean that there is a dearth of teams worth watching this spring.
