The Premier Lacrosse League college draft is set. The coaches of the eight PLL clubs will be in Bristol, Conn., and on the campus of ESPN for a live broadcast at 7 p.m. on Tuesday as the next class of pro lacrosse stars gets selected.
The draft class this year is loaded with defensive and faceoff talent. Much of the first round is projected to be defensemen.
The presumed first overall pick is Sam Handley, a giant-sized offensive weapon with the strength to overpower smaller defenders and the agility to run by larger matchups. Handley, a midfielder at Penn, is a player unlike any other in the college game because of his size and athleticism.
He narrowly missed out on a spot with Team USA, and his unique blend of physicality and skill makes him nearly unstoppable. The Atlas hold the first overall pick, and all signs point to new head coach and GM Mike Pressler (Wilton, Conn.) selecting Handley.
