Odds are you weren't awake to watch Game 7 of a Western Conference playoff series between the Vegas Golden Knights and San Jose Sharks – after all, it ended around 1:30 a.m. Eastern Standard Time – so you would have missed the first-ever Premier Lacrosse League draft live.
That's because the showcase-centric league, set to begin June 1 and June 2 at Gillette Stadium, aired the pre-recorded show on NBC Sports Network last night after both NHL playoff series ended. Those are the perks (and downfalls) of having that exclusive media rights deal.
When all was said and done, four players with ties to New England were picked. Four previously chosen by the Boston Cannons in the 2019 Major League Lacrosse Draft saw their names called, too, setting up an interesting decision for players and teams on that front. Players can't declare for the MLL or PLL until after their collegiate seasons end, so that storyline will be followed with bated breath as Memorial Day weekend nears.
