For the second season in a row, the Utah Archers were crowned Premier Lacrosse League champions, as they beat the Maryland Whipsnakes, 12-8, on Sunday in Philadelphia.
Utah dug itself an early 3-0 hole and didn’t get on the board until the final 50 seconds of the first quarter, but the cliché is that lacrosse is a game of runs, and Utah opened the second half by scoring five of the first six goals to break a 5-5 tie and pull away at the end of the game.
While the Boston Cannons had a strong regular season, only to be upset in the quarterfinals, there were still a few players with New England ties to have an impact in the final.
