SPRINGFIELD, Va. -- The last time fans saw Ronan Jacoby in a lacrosse game was in the NCAA tournament semifinals in 2022.
After a high-scoring and highly-decorated career at Division 3 power Wesleyan, the Glastonbury, Conn., native took a grad year at Rutgers for his final season, starting at attack. He scored a goal in that final four game, but ultimately Rutgers fell to Cornell.
While there was some hope that he might make someone’s roster in the Premier Lacrosse League, Jacoby went undrafted; after the college season, he wasn’t on anyone’s training camp list.
For a lot of players, that can mean the end of their competitive lacrosse career. But, as he showed during this past weekend's Championship Series, that’s not the case for Jacoby.
