Much has and will be written about the strength of prep programs in Western New England, as the Founders League and NE 1 West are home to top teams. For a college analogy, think of if the ACC and Big Ten were condensed into a 100-mile radius of each other.
As that takes form, fans were already treated to a heavyweight bout, as Brunswick hosted Deerfield Academy in NE 1 West play last Saturday. The former emerged with an 11-5 win, with senior goalie Christian Barnard (Harvard commit) making 10 saves.
That paved the way for an offense that featured eight different goal-scorers, while senior short-stick defensive midfielder Edward Glassmeyer (Johns Hopkins) was also stellar.
