Jake Gilbert has never been afraid to set big goals for himself.
The Xaverian Brothers (Mass.) High School junior attack is known for his speed and a lightning-quick first step. That’s one of the reasons he’s been projected as a Division 1 player for years and will be, after making a verbal commitment to Fairfield last week.
But there’s another side to Gilbert’s game, one his high school coach would have loved to witness this past spring.
“He told me in the preseason his goal was 80 assists, which I loved,” said Xaverian coach Daggett Morse. ”He’s really an unselfish player.”
