When I talked to Division 1 college coaches about the potential impacts of the new NCAA eligibility rules that are set to go into effect this year, there was one glaring takeaway.
Recruiting classes are going to get a lot smaller.
That’s the new reality of the college lacrosse landscape. Because programs have to account for an extra class — the new rule grants players a five-year continuous eligibility window — coaches must recruit fewer incoming freshmen to meet roster size limits.
We’ll continue to see this play out in real time with the ‘28s, who are in the third week of their recruiting season after the window opened on Sept. 9.
