Despite more than four-fifths of the coaching association favoring a change, the NCAA has declined to move the date of first contact for Class of 2022 girls recruits to next summer.

With many high school and prep school players seeing their summer club seasons abbreviated, following spring seasons that were erased by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Division 1 members of the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association sought to push back the date of first contact, with 76 percent of members favoring a July 1, 2021 date.

Members of the Class of 2022 are preparing to begin their junior years in high school and prep school.
