It was after he scored his seventh goal that Jake Whittingslow learned that something special might be afoot.
In what would turn out to be the final game of his abbreviated senior year, Whittingslow (Canton, Conn.) and Muhlenberg (Pa.) were handily beating Oneonta, on their way to a 5-0 start in Division 3.
His friend and teammate, Ethan Grossman, mentioned to him that he was just one point away from breaking the school’s single-game points record of eight -- a mark Grossman himself had matched just four games ago.
