Sophia Turchetta began the school year with all the anticipation and confidence that only comes with being a senior on a team with soaring expectations.
The Dartmouth College women’s lacrosse squad fulfilled all those expectations, and appeared on its way to so much more, through five games behind the Bromfield School (Harvard, Mass.) alumna’s talented and experienced class, and under the guidance of first-year head coach Alex Frank (Westwood, Mass.).
The Big Green began the season with a victory against a University of Massachusetts team that had just handed Boston College its first regular-season loss in three years. Dartmouth walloped Boston University, beat Brown in an overtime thriller and then topped a Florida juggernaut that had marched into Hanover, N.H., as the No. 5 team in the country -- and marched back to Gainesville on the short end of a 13-9 upset.
