ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Boston Cannons played catch-up for most of Saturday evening's Major League Lacrosse opener, but a five-goal run in the second half propelled them to a 16-14 win over the New York Lizards.
In the late game Saturday, the Connecticut Hammerheads lost their debut, getting defeated 18-6 by the Denver Outlaws. Both area teams are back in action Monday during the MLL’s weeklong regular season.
Kyle Jackson started the Cannons’ run late in the third quarter on a behind-the-back goal to make it a 14-12 game going into the fourth, where Randy Staats buried his first as a Cannon at 10:11 and Jackson scored the tying goal at 9:31.
