Over the weekend, the awards from the Intercollegiate Men’s Lacrosse Coaches Association were announced. The IMLCA, a coaches association founded in 2004, held its annual meeting in Florida in conjunction with a recruiting event to close out the year.
Several coaches were honored with New England roots, including former Bryant head coach Mike Pressler, who was awarded the IMLCA Creators Award.
Pressler (Wilton, Conn.), who left Bryant prior to last season, is the head coach of the Atlas franchise in the Premier Lacrosse League and was instrumental in the progression of the Bryant program from Division 2 to Division 1 over the last decade plus.
Ironically, Pressler’s predecessor at Bryant, Rory Whipple, was also honored in the ceremony with the IMLCA Lifetime Service Award. Whipple retired from college coaching in 2021 after leading the Tampa men’s lacrosse program for 10 seasons.
