Locked in a close game against NESCAC rival Tufts in the Division 3 national championship game on Sunday, Middlebury finished like a champion.
The second-seeded Panthers (22-1) scored seven goals in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 13-5 win in Salem, Va. It’s the third national title for the program in the last seven years.
It was a repeat, of sorts. Middlebury won the championship in 2019, saw its 2020 shortened due to the pandemic and did not compete in 2021.
It has won 10 straight NCAA tournament games dating back to 2019.
