At Middlebury College, a little bit of versatility goes a long way, and not just as a lacrosse player.
No, the Panthers pride themselves on being able to get multi-sport athletes to continue their careers once they get to Vermont, and not put one on the backburner for another.
It is an interesting tactic. But the Panthers have players like Bill Dobensky, a freshman defenseman who is going to play on the hockey team, and football players Finn Muldoon, a freshman midfielder who plays cornerback, senior first-line midfielder Frank Cosolito, who is a two-time all-NESCAC tight end, junior goalie Charles Roselle, a starting outside linebacker, and sophomore defensive midfielder Gordon Pollock, a starting safety.
This is something that is possible at a Division 3, NESCAC school like Middlebury, and not something the Panthers coaching staff shies away from. In fact, coach Dave Campbell and Co. welcome it.
