When the MIAA switched from a sectional boys lacrosse tournament to a statewide boys lacrosse tournament for the 2022 season, it caused some seimic changes.
A fourth division had to be created to match the scale of the state's expansion, causing teams from all over the state to be thrust into new divisions -- higher or lower -- and playing teams they weren’t used to facing in the regular season and sectional tournament. It also created some long playoff road trips.
Well, just when we’re starting to get used to that, realignment came again in 2024, and some teams were shuffled around again. Now, two years later, realignment has come again.
The changes are a little less severe, but nonetheless impactful.
