WORCESTER, Mass. -- In an MIAA Division 3 championship game that touted Medfield’s premier offense against Norwell’s lockdown defense, Norwell commanded both sides of the ball from start to finish to earn a convincing 11-3 win.
The victory earned the Clippers their first-ever boys lacrosse state title.
Despite facing a top-seeded Medfield offense that scored 74 goals through its four playoff games, the second-seeded Clippers felt confident their defense would be up to the task after giving up just 10 goals in four tournament games.
Behind the effort of Ryan Daly in goal, John Mullen at the faceoff, and defenders Charlie Booras, Jake Coyle, Will Morse and Ronan Schipani, Norwell played strong, disciplined defense to control the game from that end.
