A little before 7 p.m. on a steamy Monday night at Walpole High School, the reality and finality of a good season came squarely into view.
To this point in MIAA girls lacrosse, there hasn’t really been the kind of matchup between sectional contenders that would leave one lamenting the end of its season.
But there was one on Monday.
In the Division 1 East section quarterfinals, a good Lincoln-Sudbury team edged a good Walpole team, 10-9, ending the season for the Rebels and sending the Warriors on to the semifinal round against top-seeded Franklin.
