One could make a case that there is more breathing room at the top of MIAA Division 1 this season, after two of last year’s final four teams – Westwood and Reading Memorial – dropped to Division 2.
Forty-seven teams will compete in the division, compared to 58 last year. And based on recent performance and talent, five of the teams have set themselves apart, at least at the start.
That doesn’t necessarily mean the champion will come from this list. That’s what the games will determine.
But for now, here is a closer look at five D-1 teams to watch.
