Merrimack, led by Sean Black, seeking a Final Four appearance

Undersized freshman Sean Black is the newest catalyst for Merrimack, which is eyeing a return trip to Foxboro and the national championship game

By Nick FrazierMay 1, 2018

According to Merrimack College head coach Mike Morgan, there are three attributes a smaller lacrosse player such as Sean Black needs to be successful.

"When you’re going to recruit a guy who’s 5-7, he better be strong, he better be athletic and he better be skilled," Morgan said. "We thought Sean was all three of them."

It turns out Morgan and his staff were right on the money, as Black (Cheshire, Conn.) has exploded onto the Division 2 lacrosse scene. The attacker’s 38 assists and 64 points lead the Northeast-10, and he’s won the conference Rookie of the Week award five times.
