In 2022, MIAA realignment sent perennial contender Medfield down to Division 3. Many considered it the heavy favorite in its new home, and they weren’t entirely wrong.
Medfield was the No. 1 postseason seed its first year in Division 3, but fell to Norwell in the state championship game. It promptly graduated 26 seniors; the Warriors were No. 5 in last year’s playoffs, losing in the semis — again to Norwell.
The third time was a charm.
Medfield, again the No. 1 seed, ran the table in the Division 3 playoffs this year, defeating Scituate, 13-4, in an emotional final to win the program’s first state title since 2016.
