Seventy percent of the time last season, Quinn McConnaughey won his faceoff and earned possession for his team.

But that only scratched the surface of his value as a player for Thayer Academy.

McConnaughey, a Providence College commit, is part of a strong junior class that had Thayer poised to climb in the Independent School League before seasons were officially canceled last month due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Whether winning faceoffs, starting the offense or defending an opponent’s top threat, the versatile McConnaughey (Cohasset, Mass.) has developed an all-around game that would have made him one of the top players to watch in the ISL this season.
