The news from Gov. Charlie Baker’s office last week hit the Massachusetts club lacrosse community like a stick to the face.
With lacrosse flagged as a “high-risk” activity during the third phase of the state’s reopening, many planned showcase tournaments scheduled for this month had to be cancelled or moved, and local clubs ramped up their search of out-of-state options to get their prospects and teams some meaningful competition.
“A tremendous blow,” said Chris Coutu, president of MetroWest-based Coyotes Lacrosse. “Everyone was very upset.”
