Maine: Thornton Academy thrives vs. top teams in playoff run

It was the mantra from the start: To be the best, the Thornton Academy boys lacrosse team wanted to beat the best.

The Saco-based Golden Trojans knew coming into the season they had a good team, a mix of seniors and younger guys with talent across all positions. Senior Noah Edborg and junior CJ LaBreck would end up being named high school All-Americans.

But they also knew the road to a first championship would be rougher with strong programs Falmouth and Cape Elizabeth joining the Class A ranks.
