Boys lacrosse seems to really be taking off in Maine, a belief that can be quantified via the amount of college-bound players.
The state's Class of 2019 includes Boston University commit Miles Lipton of Wayneflete, UMass Lowell commit David Fiorini of South Portland and Monmouth commit CJ Labreck of Thornton Academy. Some of the state's top players, Dartmouth commit Reece Lagerquist and Providence commit Cullen Young, are off at prep schools Deerfield and Avon Old Farms, respectively.
But what about the top teams to watch for this spring?
To answer that, New England Lacrosse Journal conducted a preseason coaches poll. Over a dozen coaches voted anonymously and then votes were tallied on our end to determine the order. Team Nos. 1 through 5 are included within, as well as several narrowly on the outside looking in.
