The extended dead period for Division 1 recruiting is forcing recruits -- and coaches -- to change their plans on the fly.
Fly is what Thayer Academy junior Lindsey Wilmot did last weekend, taking a trip to the University of Denver to check out the campus of a program that was high up on her wish list.
“I went out and absolutely loved it,” she said. “I wasn’t able to meet with coaches because of the dead period or go in the locker room, but it felt great.”
After initially thinking the process might take some time, Wilmot felt she had enough boxes checked and made a verbal commitment to join Liza Kelly’s program, which competes in the Big East but plays a schedule filled with games on both coasts.
