Lights out: Why the Wolves left Connecticut for Albany

On Sunday, March 1, 2020, the New England Black Wolves – first place in the National Lacrosse League’s East Division – hosted the Halifax Thunderbirds, first in the North.

Halifax scored the first goal 9 seconds in after Jake Withers won the faceoff, but the Black Wolves would be in control the remainder of the game. New England went on a four-goal run and ultimately won the game, 16-10.

The team walked off the floor at Mohegan Sun Arena riding a wave of momentum and confidence, but the players could not have expected what the future would bring.
