Unlike many of her peers in the Independent School League, St. Mark’s coach Channing Warner had only two seniors on her roster this spring.
Of course, they were two special seniors: midfielders Sophie Student, the MVP of the league last year who will continue her career at Virginia Tech; and Phoebe MacLeod, who is committed to Bucknell.
One of the things Warner was really eager to see was how a junior, Lauren Tolve, would elevate her game playing next to the two accomplished seniors in the midfield, after playing largely on attack her first two seasons.
It left the coach both curious and excited.
