The road to Division 1 women’s lacrosse from Pentucket Regional (Mass.) High School isn’t a well-traveled one.
Junior midfielder Lana Mickelson (West Newbury, Mass.) has had to blaze her own path, one that wasn’t without obstacles. From some “hard conversations” with her club coach to an unrelenting need to improve her stickwork, it was hardly the shortest distance between two points.
But she arrived at her destination safely after making a commitment earlier this month to Iona College, a Division 1 program in New Rochelle, N.Y., that competes in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
