LAKE PLACID, N.Y. -- The first day of the Lake Placid Scholastic Tournament on Monday showcased beautiful weather and incredibly skillful play.
Held each summer in the first week of August, Placid Scholastic isn’t a recruiting tournament as it falls at the end of a grueling summer circuit, but the prestige of winning the event still pulls in an intense and nuanced selection of teams.
It's not completely unlike the Lake Placid open tournament, which includes current college and ex-pro players, and begins on Thursday.
If last year’s theme was a curtain call for committed 2023s to have one last run with their club (or high school) teams, this year the theme is "super teams."
