The first game of Kailey Conry's college career was an away game, yet it was still in a recognizable territory.
Boston University opened its 2017 season at Boston College, where Conry’s mother, Katie, is a member of the Athletic Hall of Fame. Being in a place she visited often as a child helped to quell whatever freshman nerves she was experiencing.
"It’s hard to be comfortable in your first college game," Conry said, "but it did have a familiar feeling, and that was nice."
Conry didn’t score any goals or provide any assists, and the Terriers lost the game, 13-11, to a team that would go on to reach the NCAA championship game. That was one of only two games in the 18-game season that Conry didn’t score, however. She would go on to lead the team in points (68) and set the program record for assists in a season (54).
She was named All-Patriot League second team and helped the team win 10 games and reach the league tournament.
