Junkin, Mathias key parts of Penn’s resurgence

Just because a team goes on a run, it doesn't necessarily that they're destined for silverware.

But there's a general sense in the college lacrosse world that Penn (4-3) is building something special, as the Ivy League program currently finds itself amid a four-game winning streak. The Quakers are coming off a 16-15 triumph over preseason favorites Cornell, and now will host Yale, the defending national champions, on Saturday.

As part of Penn's senior class, two locals are front and center: attackman Simon Mathias (Ridgefield, Conn.) and Reed Junkin (Wayland, Mass.). They're embracing every second of it.

"Although we're seven games into the season, we're really only halfway through it and have a lot of the season left," said Mathias.
