John Piatelli evolving into dynamic threat at Cornell

Former St. Sebastian’s and King Phillip attackman set for key role

John Piatelli was coming off the greatest scoring season in the history of King Philip Regional High School.

The Wrentham, Mass., native said he realized back then, during his sophomore year, that if he wanted to achieve all he could in lacrosse, he'd need to get out of his comfort zone.

So after scoring a school-record 74 goals for KP, he transferred to St. Sebastian’s, a prep school in Needham, Mass., to repeat his sophomore year. If Piatelli had to wager, that decision sparked events that have the 6-foot attackman entering his sophomore season at Cornell, one of the more-anticipated Ivy League teams in years.
