After two seasons affected, altered, shortened, canceled and/or lost to the COVID-19 pandemic, lacrosse players, coaches, parents and fans are hoping for a “return to normal” this spring.
They’re not aiming high enough.
Properly appreciating the return of the game means recognizing all of the little things you have missed. Not “recognizing” as in, “Yeah, I see that,” but recognizing in the sense of truly honoring something.
Hard to imagine that will happen on its own. Cooped up and mostly left to social media, I fear that our collective humanity and ability to see the big picture has been diminished.
