Now we can really find out what’s next for professional lacrosse.
In 2018, when the launch of the Premier Lacrosse League was announced, everyone talked about what a second professional field lacrosse league run by the game’s best players – rather than a group of investors – would mean for the evolution of the sport. The obvious answer at the time was that it wouldn’t mean much until the two leagues became one.
As I wrote in the December 2018 issue of New England Lacrosse Journal, the PLL pretty much had to kill off Major League Lacrosse because the protagonists were akin to mortal enemies Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort: “Neither can live while the other survives.”
