Say this about Jack Taylor: He’s never been a frontrunner.
Recruited to join a Lawrence Academy lacrosse team that would go 0-15 in the Independent School League the year before he arrived, and one that hadn’t had a winning season in two decades, he was determined to help write a new chapter.
So it wasn’t a surprise to Matt Smith, his former coach at LA, when Taylor made his commitment last week to play at Jacksonville, a program that’s only been in Division 1 for a decade.
“He wants to be part of something that’s not already established,” said Smith. “He wants to be a foundational piece of building something better.”
