Despite being a hotbed for top-level Division 1 talent, it’s not often that players from southern Connecticut attend the D-1 school in their backyard, Fairfield University.
Bucking that trend is Jack McKenna, the Fairfield Warde High School product who not only chose Fairfield but just wrapped up a 43-goal freshman campaign that saw him win CAA Rookie of the Year honors.
McKenna decided to stay close to home for a number of reasons, and the fit at the school and with the coaching staff allowed him to have immediate success for the program and head coach Andrew Baxter.
At 6-foot-6 and 220 pounds, McKenna is hard to miss on a lacrosse field.
