After the Boston College women’s lacrosse team defeated Syracuse, 16-10, to win its first national championship, it returned to Chestnut Hill to a hero’s welcome, greeted by fans, balloons and plenty of smiles.
It is interesting, however, how two places so very close geographically can be so different in atmosphere.
A little over three miles away in Cambridge, there was no celebrating. No fans. No balloons.
While teams like BC got to compete for a championship, teams in the Ivy League — like Harvard — didn’t have a chance to compete at all.
