NEEDHAM, Mass -- In an absolute thriller, sixth-seeded Middlesex rallied to knock off No. 2 St. Sebastian's in the Independent School League semifinals on Saturday, 10-9.
Despite trailing for the majority of the game, Middlesex held its composure and punched its ticket to the title game for the first time in style with a late-fourth-quarter comeback.
Scoring three unanswered goals, with help from attackman Owen Crann's hat trick and the game-clincher from midfielder James Counselman, the Zebras completed the comeback and stunned the St. Sebastian's crowd.
Middlesex coach Doug Worthen, who played for the program a generation ago and will step down as coach at the end of the season, said he was overjoyed to get one more game with his team.
