Lukas Buckley (Walpole, Mass.) waited nearly two full years to get back out on the lacrosse field between the start of his senior year at Xaverian Brothers of Westwood and his sophomore season at Ohio State due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
When the chance came to keep that lacrosse career going professionally with his hometown Boston Cannons, the midfielder said he wasn’t about to let that opportunity pass him by.
Buckley, whose fifth-year senior season with the Buckeyes was cut short due to the coronavirus health emergency in March, went undrafted in the Major League Lacrosse college draft on May 4. But a quick conversation with Cannons coach Sean Quirk (Cheshire, Conn.) convinced Buckley to extend his lacrosse career in the state where it hit the long pause button in the opening game of his senior high school season.
