PHILADELPHIA -- Tufts wasn’t just pursuing a national championship on Sunday afternoon. It was pursuing perfection.
The Jumbos walked onto the field undefeated, a perfect 22-0. Their lineup boasted the Division 3 Player of the Year along with multiple 100-point scorers and All-Americans. For most of the season, they’ve sported the No. 1 ranking in the nation.
Apparently, nobody told Salisbury any of that.
The Seagulls were shot out of a cannon to start the game, blitzing Tufts with a 6-0 first quarter en route to a 17-2 win. The Jumbos managed just two shots in the entire first quarter. It was the first time they’d be shut out in a quarter since the 2017 season.
