Middlebury College coach Kate Livesay admits that it feels like she’s playing catch-up.
The coach of the Division 3 national champion in 2016 and ‘19, Livesay didn’t get to experience a season last spring when the Panthers opted out of NESCAC competition, one of four league schools to do so.
“I think it does feel like that in the back of our minds,” she said. “You see it in things like timing -- timing of cuts, timing of drives. It’s a little bit rusty.”
Livesay sees it because her team is preparing for its third of 15 fall practices today, thanks to a NESCAC rule that permits coaches to work with their teams in the fall.
