Joe Buduo was certainly no stranger to athletic success when he trekked from central Massachusetts to Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, N.C.

An All-American lacrosse player who also was on a state championship ice hockey team at Shrewsbury (Mass.) High, he had a knack for making a strong first impression.

“When we got the film on him, he just popped with how hard he played,” Lenoir-Rhyne coach Greg Paradine said of the 5-foot-8 attackman. “He was quick. He was tough. You could tell he was probably a hockey player. From the time he stepped on campus, you knew he was going to be a special player.”
