Having a parent as a coach isn’t always easy, just as sure as being a parent and coaching your child is a fine line to tread.
At Hotchkiss School, head coach Anna Traggio and her daughter, Ellie, find it the opposite, as the two continue to grow a heartfelt bond based on admiration and adoration, something that in turn has helped the program become one of the region’s best.
Entering her 19th season at the helm, Anna has had Ellie on her sideline since birth. From a young age, Ellie was hooked and wanted to be part of the action as soon as she could.
“Watching mom’s games when I was little, going to practices when I was still too young to play ... then when I got old enough I was able to hop in a few drills,” recalled Ellie. “Seeing the love the girls and especially my mom have for the game has made me want to play, and want to make her proud and have her have that joy that I saw her have in coaching other girls.”
